About Barbera Nix Barbera brings a very diversified background to our business. Working for a high profile Houston commercial real estate firm in the early 60's introduced her to the Houston real estate market. In the 70's she experienced first-hand real estate sales, financing and mortgage lending while working for the Chairman of the Board of a major international corporation whose own personal real estate holdings were massive. In the late 70's she teamed up with a local builder which led to establishing her own interior decorating company for the next 20 years. During this time she worked with major high-end homebuilders and their clients from architectural planning through final completion in the Houston market and surrounding areas with great concentration in the then newly developed Sweetwater and Cinco Ranch, and the explosion of new home building in West U., Bellaire and Memorial areas. In the early 90's she closed her business due to family illness responsibilities. In the late 90's Barbera returned to the business market by joining a mortgage brokerage firm as a loan officer. With her highly diversified background directly relating to real estate, homebuilding and interior decorating, the mortgage industry was just an extention of it all. 'It was a way of continuing my own personal, hands-on style of working with my clients,' says Barbera, 'I think the single biggest problem in getting a home mortgage is the lack of real concern and interest in what the client really needs...not what's easy for me to offer them.
